MELINDA HUUK

Director. Project & Creative Lead. MDIA. Dip Int Des SIT (Distinction)

 

With over 25 years' experience delivering award winning projects for top tier global and local brands, Melinda brings an exceptional level of insight, experience and creativity to every project.

Her industry-recognised commitment to leading teams to unearth new project possibilities, combined with the learnings & insights she has gained from her extensive and diverse career, brings confidence, courage and rigour to any project team. 

Melinda began her career in retail and hospitality, focusing on brand translation and customer experiential strategies. She understands how space can influence and shape both behaviours and performance.

Her most recent experience has been as the Project and Creative Lead for several prominent large scale agile workplace environments ranging in size from 7,500sqm to 60,000sqm, one of which has attained 7 industry awards.

Melinda is currently working on a small Fin-Tech development hub and an Innovation Space.

SallY finlay

Market Leader. Strategy & Design. B Design Int Design (Uni Medal) UTS

 

Sally has developed nationally-awarded space strategies and designs for leading brands for over 25 years.  For almost 20 years, with a previous shared employer, Sally and Melinda have supported and worked alongside each other.

Sally’s most recent experience includes developing national workplace strategies and designs for established and emerging brands of both significant and smaller scale. 

Sally is highly skilled at facilitating candid conversations with her clients' leadership teams and their people. The business insight she gains is enviable, inspires her and provides her the genuine ability to ensure unique and successful client outcomes. 

Sally shares her birds-eye view of what’s happening in the market with her clients, particularly those new to the Australian market, to help them make smart space decisions.

GRAEME BOWIE

Senior Associate. Bachelor Building Science, Victoria Uni NZ ||B.Architecture, Auckland University

Following graduation from the University of Auckland with a double degree in Architecture, Graeme began his career with a small Architectural practice crafting bespoke houses & boutique retail spaces around the Auckland region.


In 1998, Graeme relocated to Australia. During this twenty year period he has honed his technical and design skills across a broad range of successful project deliveries from not-for-profit to high end retailers and corporate mining giants.


One of Graeme’s strengths is his ability to ensure a project from concept is realised at completion; true to the original vision by managing the complexities of the local authority and building regulations.


Most recently Graeme has been working with Sephora for their Australian store roll-out.

Graeme has worked also worked with Apple across more than twenty retail locations across Australia and Tesla for their launch into the local and New Zealand markets.

Other Qualifications: VBA. Registered building practitioner Victoria  ||  Licenced building practitioner NZ.

RENEE PRATT

Senior Design Associate. Adv Dip Interior Des TAFE NSW 

 

Renee brings over 10 years' of customer-centric design to The Studio*. Cutting her teeth in the fast-paced retail sector, working with both global and local brands, Renee brings an inherent sensibility regarding experiential design and customer experience.

She combines a creative edge with a high degree of technical rigour.

Renee understands the subtle nuances of brands and is able to translate that into a compelling spatial narrative which she has successfully applied across multiple sectors including hospitality, residential and workplace.

Most recently, Renee has worked closely with Melinda on a 60,000sqm workplace environment which is currently under a staged construction program - and a Fin-Tech development hub.

petrina kernchen

Senior Design Associate. B of Design (Int Design) RMIT 

 

Australian born and trained, Petrina began her career in Chicago and for the subsequent 13 years, has worked across multiple sectors of design including retail, hospitality, workplace and residential. Her portfolio is diverse, with projects ranging from small not-for-profit organisations through to large scale workplace projects. 

With a background in the art and craft industry Petrina has developed a cross-disciplinary approach to design and a strong appreciation for detail.

As a green star-trained professional, she brings a passion for responsible design.

Previously, Petrina and Melinda worked together on a large scale workplace project that attained no less than 7 industry awards, including for sustainability, people diversity & inclusion and innovation.

LOUISE MACKRILL 

Senior Design Associate. BA Interior Design (Hons.) Huddersfield University, England

 

Born and bred in the UK, Louise commenced her career in London working in the retail and hospitality sectors.

After settling in Australia in 2004, Louise extended her expertise to encompass childcare and workplace projects of varying sizes and budgets.

With over 18 years experience, Louise has been an integral part of many award winning design teams, winning both international and national design awards across the years.

Most recently, Louise has been working closely with Melinda, Renee, Sarah and Petrina on a 60,000sqm workplace environment which is currently under a staged construction program - focussing on the delivery stage of the client floors.

SARAH WATT

Design Associate. BA major Interior Architecture, Curtin University

 

Following the completion of her Bachelor of Arts (Interior Design) over 7 years ago, Sarah has since worked across a diverse range of projects of varying sizes and budgets, combining creativity with an academic rigour.

Her design passion combined with a background in project management, enables Sarah to delicately balance pragmatics with a creative edge. 

Whilst Sarah has worked across multiple sectors, of late she has focussed on workplace, working on various small scale agile workplaces and most recently with Melinda and Renee on a 60,000sqm workplace environment which is currently under a staged construction program.
